Etihad Airways has announced it carried 5 million passengers during the first quarter of 2025, marking a significant rise in demand as the airline maintains its status as one of the world’s fastest-growing carriers. The national airline of the United Arab Emirates released its March 2025 traffic statistics, revealing sustained growth across key performance metrics. In March alone, Etihad welcomed 1.6 million passengers, a 14 percent increase compared to the same month in 2024.

The carrier also reported an average passenger load factor of 87 percent for the first quarter, improving on the 86 percent recorded in the corresponding period last year. The figures come amid a continued expansion of Etihad’s operational capacity and a 10 percent year-on-year growth in its fleet size. Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves stated that the airline had welcomed nearly 20 million guests over the twelve months ending in March 2025. He attributed the consistent growth to strong passenger demand and strategic route development, which included the announcement of two new routes in the past month alone.

The airline now has a total of 16 new destinations scheduled for launch in 2025. Etihad’s network expansion is supported by increased flight frequencies and sustained investment in service enhancements, which the airline said contributed to record-high customer satisfaction levels in March. According to Neves, the positive feedback underscores Etihad’s commitment to delivering what he described as “an exceptional travel experience.” The carrier’s growth strategy has been underpinned by both market recovery and operational efficiencies, allowing it to scale services while maintaining strong load factors.

Etihad’s performance in the first quarter suggests continued momentum as the airline targets further growth through the remainder of 2025. The airline’s results reflect broader trends in the aviation sector, where Gulf carriers have been among the first to rebound from recent global disruptions. Etihad’s ability to expand capacity while maintaining service standards places it in a strong position ahead of the summer travel season. With a focus on expanding its global footprint and improving passenger services, Etihad Airways remains a central player in the region’s aviation industry, contributing to the UAE’s broader goals of connectivity and economic diversification. – By MENA Newswire News Desk.
